What is the Kids’ Health Conference, and who attends?

The Kids’ Health Conference provides an opportunity for delegates to increase their knowledge and skills, to network, and to learn from colleagues who have an interest in the physical activity and health needs of children and youth.

Delegates are people involved with the health, physical activity and education needs of children and youth, including educator, public health, administrators, recreation leaders, and physical education specialists and generalists who want more information regarding physical education.

Are there extra costs?

Your registration is all-inclusive (including accommodations and meals). HOWEVER, if you utilize Nottawasaga’s “pay as you play activities”, e.g. golf, mini-putt, tennis courts, etc., there are fees for these which are not covered by Ophea.

Exhibitor items: We do have over 30 exhibitors, some of which will be selling merchandise you may wish to purchase. 

Ophea items:  Ophea will also have a booth which will be selling conference merchandise.

Cash bar:  There is a cash bar at the evening socials.

Am I pre-registered for particular workshops?

No. In your delegate package you will receive a copy of the conference program which will provide the workshop schedule (along with a brief abstract of each workshop).  Using the program, you will then be able to select which workshops you want to attend on each day. What are the accommodations like?

Accommodations at Nottawasaga Inn are double occupancy bedrooms.   

Can I room with a friend?

We cannot guarantee specific roommate requests; however, we will do our best to fulfill special requests provided plenty of notice is given, both people indicate that they want to share accommodations with each other, and there is space available.

How do I get to Nottawasaga Inn?

Nottawasaga Inn is located off Highway 89 in Alliston,Ontario.
  • Take the PROVINCIAL ROUTE 400 North towards BARRIE.
  • Exit onto HIGHWAY 89 W.

Drive west on Highway 89 for 14 km and Nottawasaga is on the south side.

Do you provide transportation?

No. 

Are there vegetarian meal plans available?

Yes - please indicate any dietary requirements on your registration form. 

What do I do to check in?

When you first arrive, please go to the main lobby. Report to the conference registration desk when you enter.  There you will receive your delegate package, name badge and wristband. Then you will register at the Nottawasaga Inn registration desk to receive your room assignment.

When you arrive Thursday, we invite you to take part in the ‘drop-in’ activities that will be running (e.g., pre-conference session, exhibitor marketplace & networking activities). A complete list of the “who, what, where, and when” of these activities will be provided in your delegate package.

What do I do if I am late?

Don’t worry.  Look for an Ophea representative when you arrive.

What should I wear?

Appropriate clothes for autumn weather (some presenters take their participants outside).  Also be prepared to be active…there are lots of workshops with ‘hands on’ activities.   For the Friday dinner/awards ceremony/social, semi formal/ business attire is suggested.

What should I bring?

Whatever you need to learn lots and have fun!
