What Is it All About?

Student leaders learn the story of a specific kind of food as it travels from the farm to your plate and then create a poster to be shared with the class or school profiling the food item as if it were a celebrity.

Why Do It?

Students learn where food comes from — from the farm to the plate — and get creative as they share its story.

How Do We Do It?

Each vegetable and fruit has its own unique story about where and how it is grown, and how it arrives in our homes. Research a vegetable or fruit grown in Ontario and write a story about how it grows, how it is harvested, and different methods of processing or preparing it.

When posters are finished, consider displaying them on a bulletin board and/or throughout common areas of the school.

What Else Do We Need?

  • Paper
  • Writing utensils
  • Or a computer and printer

How Do We Get Creative?

Write poems, short stories, or create a skit about vegetables and fruit.

Use animation to film techniques to bring your fruit or vegetable to life.
