Ready, Steady...Balance! includes 20 balance cards for elementary educators based on everyday movements and activities, providing students with a fun and meaningful way to practice stability skills every day and in multiple environments!
Fundamental movement skills, including stability skills, are the foundation of all physical activity and are essential to the development of effective motor skills, and to the application of these skills in a wide variety of physical activities.1
Ready, Steady...Balance! balance cards are convenient and practical for use as active breaks, to meet the Movement Competence expectations of the H&PE curriculum, to support Daily Physical Activity (DPA), or as activity warm-ups and cool-downs. Each card offers variations and self-assessment cues to engage every student in developing their balance skills.
Movement exploration activity ideas are included to encourage students to explore their balance skills on their own, with a partner or small group, and with a larger group or class. Discussion prompts are provided to help students understand the benefits of developing static and dynamic balance and how these skills might improve their confidence and competence in performing other movement skills.
Using Ready, Steady...Balance! is a great way to encourage students to maintain a well-balanced physical literacy skillset.
