Growing Healthy Places: Mississauga

A partnership project for student health & well-being

Growing Healthy Places: Mississauga is an exciting new project to help school aged children in Peel Region thrive! Over the next 2.5 years, selected schools will team up with local partners to enhance food security and to promote food and physical literacy, through providing access and opportunities for students aged 6–13 to nutritious food and to safe learning spaces for physical activity.

The project is led by Ophea, 8 80 Cities, Brock University and Novo Nordisk Canada Inc. and is part of a larger international Cities for Better Health initiative. Five cities across five countries (Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Africa and Spain) are involved in this global effort.

This online information hub will tell you everything you need to know for your school to apply, including who can participate, how it works and important timelines. Once the project starts, it’s also where you’ll find a toolkit of school and community resources and where we’ll collect and showcase stories of change and community engagement.
