Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education Resources has been developed to increase elementary and secondary educators’ understanding of what is gender-based violence and harassment and to raise awareness of how they can be prevented through early education and honest classroom conversations.
The Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education Resources aim to:
- Develop the confidence and capacity of educators to be role models in building safe and positive spaces in their school communities; and
- Increase the awareness and understanding of educators of key topics including gender-based violence, harassment, consent, healthy relationships, and systems of power that enable violence and discrimination.
The Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education Resources includes:
- Ready-to-use intermediate/senior classroom activities that meant help students develop an understanding of gender-based violence, including the role of the bystander, as well as decision-making, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ready-to-use primary/junior activity meant to introduce conversations on healthy relations and consent for primary/junior students.
- Expert videos to support educators’ knowledge and understanding the importance of gender-based violence prevention education, and using the grade-appropriate classroom activities with students.
- Considerations for educators before using the classroom activities with students, including making curriculum expectation connections to topics that are being addressed using these activities; key terms; strategies for creating a safe and inclusive environment; and additional resources.
The Gender-Based Violence Prevention Education Resources are based on the Draw-The-Line campaign and would not be possible without support from our partners:
