Building Healthy Eating Habits and Food Literacy Skills with the H&PE Curriculum

In previous webinars, we learned about Canada’s Food Guide and the connections to the Health & Physical Education(H&PE) curricula to help students develop the knowledge and skills to make the healthiest eating choices they can. Now we are going to hear from educators who are using these strategies to support a focus on healthy eating habits (beyond just what you eat) and the development of food literacy skills through teaching the H&PE curricula! Join us as we connect to discuss experiences from practicing educators and see examples of activities, supports, and lesson plans they use to foster their students’ learning.

This session will focus on:

  • Increasing understanding about food literacy skill development, H&PE curricula, including the integration of Social-Emotional Learning skills and Living skills, and healthy eating habits.
  • Exploring teaching strategies, resources, and supports that educators are using to help make real life connections to students’ learning.
