Health promotion for educators has a positive impact on overall well-being. H&PE can play a key role in shaping our students’ views about healthy and active living, but it is equally important to practice self-care and stay up to date on our own health education. Self-care ensures that we have what we need to thrive as an educator, and in our other roles as well (as a friend, family member, parent, etc.). This is some ‘food for thought’! Do you have questions related to food and nutrition for yourself? How can food be part of supporting your own well-being? And how can you be the best role model for your students? Ask a dietitian! This hour-long session is an open Q-and-A format with a dietitian, to educate and bring awareness to the importance of nutrition for ourselves.
The session will focus on:
- Examining how, why, where and what we eat, grounded in Canada’s Food Guide
- Exploring nutrition myths and facts
- Answering YOUR questions about food trends, diets, eating habits, grocery shopping, cooking and preparing meals
- Discussing strategies around supporting educator well-being with a focus on healthy eating and nutrition
Questions can be submitted within registration. We can answer general nutrition and food questions (i.e. Should everyone take a multivitamin? Which diet is the best?), but can’t answer personal medical questions.
Although the live session will be in English only. We invite participants to submit questions they have as part of the registration in English and/or French. The recap blog on the session will also be made available in English and French.
