This workshop applies the principles from Growing Success for Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools to Health and Physical Education. In this workshop participants will learn how to apply the principles of “assessment for” and “assessment as” learning in a health and physical education setting. Emphasis will be placed on applying the 7 Fundamental Principles of assessment to teacher planning for instruction and assessment on a daily basis, and effective practice in designing assessments, and constructing success criteria to support student learning and achievement. Ophea’s position paper: “Quality Assessment to Support the Development of Physical Literacy Skills in Health and Physical Education” will also be explored.
