Unit 4: Choice Board

Promoting the healthy development of all students, as well as enabling all students to reach their full potential, is a priority for educators across Ontario. Students’ health and well-being contribute to their ability to learn in all disciplines, including Health and Physical Education, and that learning in turn contributes to their overall well-being. A well-rounded educational experience prioritizes social-emotional learning, physical and mental health, and inclusion together with academic success for all students.1

To continue the support in the learning and resources for #OpheaOpenClass, this Welcome Back Choice Board will provide meaningful, safe, engaging quality Health and Physical Education and health promoting opportunities during class time and to support physical activity opportunities before, throughout, and after the school day.

Please note, that Ophea's Steps to Inclusion resource is no longer available, however educators are encouraged to explore Ophea's Disability-Centred Movement: Supporting Inclusive Physical Education online resource for support with teaching students with various disabilities in Physical Education.

#OpheaOpenClass Choice Board

Learning Goal: To positively contribute to student well-being through prioritizing student safety through identifying activities to contribute to physically, emotionally and socially safe learning environments for all students. The concepts featured on the Choice Board are to support the educator in the program planning in Health and Physical Education. These can be adapted for various learning settings including learning at school (in-person), learning at home (online learning) or a combination of in-person and online learning (blended learning) to help continue to foster critical thinking and student engagement.
