Connected to School Activities

What Is Your Goal?

Students reflect on the food choices they make and why they make them, and based on their observations create a goal for improvement. With this goal in mind, they create a poster that encourages others to eat healthier or keep eating healthy.

Healthy Eating around School

Healthy eating can be tough to achieve when many of the foods available around you do not promote health. Students explore the various places food is available in and around the school community and ways to promote healthier food options.

Fruity Friday

Every Friday, students are encouraged to bring a piece of fruit for snack and/or lunch.

Healthy “T” Day Challenge

In a healthy snacking challenge, student leaders encourage students to bring healthy snacks to school over the course of the challenge.

Write About It

Students write a blog post or zine-style article reporting on the topic of healthy eating in a fun and creative way.

Smoothie Day

Students work in small groups to plan a smoothie day, on which they make and share recipes for healthy smoothie drinks.

Staff Wellness Challenge

Teachers and staff participate in a healthy eating challenge over a period of time to increase their well-being.

A Healthy Day PSA

Students work in a small group to explore a healthy eating and nutrition concept of their choice and share it with their school and community through a public service announcement (PSA).

Promoting Healthy Eating

With your team, investigate credible messages about healthy eating that you’ve learned or already know, and then create and implement a promotional strategy to share one of those messages.

Class Fruit and Veggie Challenge

Students and teachers keep track of their daily vegetable and fruit consumption during the school day and compare the group’s results to that of Canada’s Food Guide.

Pop-up Smoothie Bar

A smoothie bar run by students is placed in a common area of the school or in a specific area of the playground to create a yummy start to the day.
