Its youth education resource, Lower Risk Cannabis Use Guidelines for Youth, provides evidence-based information on safer ways to use cannabis, for those who have made the choice to use.

Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP) is a national network of student and youth chapters working on drug policy issues facing their communities. CSSDP advocates for appropriate responses to reduce and prevent the harms associated with drug use and provides education and resources to help others advocate for sensible drug policies.

Cannabis Education Resources, Ophea

Ophea’s Cannabis Education Resources has been developed to provide educators and administrators access to evidence-informed information on substance use, specifically regarding cannabis, to help students develop the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions to support their health and well-being.

ConnexOntario

ConnexOntario provides free and confidential health services information for people experiencing problems with alcohol and drugs, mental illness, and/or gambling. The Government of Ontario funds the organization.

Foundations for a Healthy School is designed to help contribute to a learning environment that promotes and supports child and student well-being, which is one of the four core goals in Ontario’s renewed vision for education.

Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is a national support service in Canada that offers professional counselling, information, and referrals as well as volunteer-led text-based support to young people in both English and French. The services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ontario Physical Activity Safety Standards in Education (OPASSE)

The Ontario Physical Activity Safety Standards in Education, managed by Ophea, represent the minimum standards for risk management practice for school boards. They focus the attention of teachers, intramural supervisors, and coaches on safe practices for every activity, in order to minimize the element of risk. The Safety Standards include concussion protocols to help prevent and identify suspected concussions and manage a student’s safe return to learning and physical activity.

Public Health Units

Public Health Units have staff who are qualified to provide information and deliver training on substance use prevention and harm reduction and health lifestyles and who have experience with healthy schools. Your local public health unit can be a great source of support to students for this project.
